This is Avenged Sevenfold's second time around on this tour. This year their the headliner. Last year they should have been for they blew away the headliners Disturbed.
Ax7 is definitely one of my favorite bands to come out of the last decade. I passed a few opportunities to see these guys years ago and I kick myself for it now. These guys are the real deal. There's no other stage show out there that can compete with Ax7.
The show started off with a see threw curtain across the stage. The intro to "Nightmare" starts and behind the curtain their are random burst of giant propane flames. You can get the sense that this is just the beginning of a fire filled night.
The curtain falls and Synyster Gates (g) walks to the center of the stage and starts the solo intro to "Nightmare" and from there it just gets crazy. A quick side note on Synyster Gates. If you have had the chance to see Jeff Dunham the comedian, his opening act "Guitar Guy" is Synyster dad. Just thought I'd throw that trivia in. Synyster though is and amazing guitarist.
Zacky Vengeance (g) is equally as talented and the two of them make up and incredible guitar due and have a cohesiveness I can only compare to Dave Murry and Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden and K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton of Judas Priest. I just really dated myself didn't I.
M Shadows is a great front man. He stated we was sick but you couldn't tell. A funny comment he made during the show was in asking if everyone in the crowd had iphones. It seemed at that moment he made the comment there were 500 phones in the air filming the show. It was crazy.
Johnny Christ (b) continues to provide a solid back beat and is joined on this tour by The Rev on drums. The Rev comes in after the departure of Mike Portnoy (ex Dream Theater). It has been rumored Portnoy left under bad conditions . If that's true I was surprised when singer M. Shadows came out wearing a Dream Theater T-shirt. We all now how rumors are.
Ax7 stage show is filled with fire and skulls. Its is a spectacle not to be missed. This is how rock shows are supposed to be. I can't wait for the next time Ax7 rolls through. If ya missed this years show do not and I repeat do not miss next years !!!!!!
What a great end to a great day at the UPROAR Festival !!!!!
