03/19/2013 The Revolution Concert House Boise Idaho
As Boise finally starts to thaw out from one very chilly winter, our brand new music hot spot, Revolution Concert House, brought on the heat last night, March 19th. Kind of reminded us of what summer can feel like in Idaho. As I drove up to the Revolution at 3 p.m. to check out the scene, fans were lining up to get their fill of Spoken, Danko Jones and Volbeat. When I entered the venue the anticipation that filled the air was electric and everybody knew this show would be epic. I got the chance to talk with some people who had seen Spoken at some of the previous shows on this tour and only positive things were being said about the four man rock crew.
When Matt took the stage, he commanded attention from everyone in the room. His voice was wild, it was such a powerhouse and had such a huge range that it blew everyone's minds. When he started to sing "Through It All", the crowd erupted with a crazy amount of energy. Speaking of crazy energy, Matt was everywhere that he could get to on stage and so close to the crowd. I have mad respect for that man.
It wasn't just Matt that conducted all of this energy though. Oliver, Jesse and Ryan kept the crowd's energy up and ready to rock hardcore! Throughout every song, Jesse on guitar was headbanging away followed by Ryan on bass. At one point they were headbanging simultaneously which added to the crowd feeling the heavy beats of Oliver pounding on the drums. The group had the perfect amount of distortion in their sound to satisfy a rocker's ear drums. The way Spoken played together gave me chills.
By the middle of the set you could tell the audience had completely absorbed the hardcore rock that filled the room. Once they played through a majority of their brand new album, "Illusion", Matt shared their belief in Christianity by bringing the audience into a short prayer. This prayer led into the group's final song for the night. As the band made their exit, we were all wanting more Spoken.
Spoken definitely rocked us to our core. If you're willing to spend some of your hard earned cash on a hardcore rock show to remember, Spoken is the band to see. It'll be money well spent. Matt was so thankful for all of us that showed up at the show and for everyone that pitched in and I'd like to throw the thanks right back at you, Matt. Thank you for coming to Boise, Idaho.
